One more vanished equine beast - on this occasion a subspecies of zebra - the last wild Quagga was most likely killed at the end of the1870s, and then the last sample in captivity passed away in 1883 at Artis Magistra Zoo in Amsterdam. In the past plentiful in southern Africa, the Quagga became target to callous hunting for its meat and hide, and due to the fact that it was viewed by residents as a rival to livestock such as sheep etc. It's the coating of the Quagga that recognized it right, with merely the top section of its body displaying the zebra’s dazzling striped marks. Much like the Tarpan, initiatives to reproduce back the Quagga have generated good results, at least visually.
