The Green sea turtle (Chelonia mydas) or green turtle is a large sea turtle belonging to the Cheloniidae family. It is the single species of the Chelonia genus. Its range expands all over tropical and subtropical seas worldwide, with two distinctive populations in the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. Their common name comes from the typically green fat located under their carapace (upper shell).
