Horses physiology permits them to make full use of velocity to escape predators and they've got a well-developed sense of balance and a good fight-or-flight intuition. Connected with this need to run away from predators in the wild is a peculiar characteristic: horses have the ability to sleep both standing up and laying. Female horses, called mares, carry their young for about 11 months, and a young horse, termed as a foal, can stand up and run soon after its birth. Most domesticated horses commence training under saddle or in harness in between the ages of two and four. They reach full adult growth by the age five, and have almost lifespan of between 25 and 30 years.

Spiders The Predator

Spiders (order Araneae) are air-breathing arthropods which have eight legs, and chelicerae with fangs which inject venom. Those are the largest sized order of arachnids and rank seventh as a whole in species diversity amongst any other groups of organisms. Spiders are located worldwide on each and every continent aside from Antarctica, and have grown to be set up in virtually every habitat excluding air and sea colonization. As of 2008, roughly 40,000 spider species, and 109 families were documented by taxonomists; yet, there's been a dilemma inside the scientific community regarding how each one of these families must be categorized, as confirmed by the over 20 different classifications which have been suggested since 1900.

Jaguars are the biggest of South America's big cats. Once upon a time they roamed from the southern tip of that continent north to the region surrounding the U.S.-Mexico border. Today substantial numbers of jaguars are observed only in distant areas of South and Central America-in particular in the Amazon basin.

These attractive and powerful beasts were dominant in ancient Native American cultures. In some cultures the Jaguar God of the Night was the powerful lord of the underworld. The name jaguar is originated from the Native American word yaguar, meaning "he who kills with one leap."

Unlike a number of other cats, jaguars don't avoid water; in fact, they are rather good swimmers. Rivers offer them food in the form of fish, turtles, or caimans-small, alligator like animals. Jaguars also eat larger animals for example deer, peccaries, capybaras, and tapirs. They often climb trees to create an ambush, killing their prey with one powerful chew.

Most jaguars are tan or orange with exclusive black spots, dubbed "rosettes" since they're formed like roses. Some jaguars are so dark they seem spotless, although their markings are visible on closer examination.

Jaguars live alone and determine territories of many square miles by marking with their waste or clawing timber.

Females have litters of one to four cubs, that are blind and helpless at birth. The mother stays with them and guards them fiercely from any animal that might approach-even their very own father. Young jaguars learn how to hunt by staying with their mothers for two years or more.

Jaguars are even now hunted for their beautiful fur. Ranchers also kill them because the cats occasionally prey upon their livestock.

The Siberian Husky is a medium-size, dense-coat working dog breed that originated in eastern Siberia. The breed belongs to the Spitz genetic family. It is recognizable by its thickly furred double coat, sickle tail, erect triangular ears and distinctive markings.

Huskies are an active, energetic and resilient breed whose ancestors came from the extremely cold and harsh environment of the Siberian Arctic. Siberian Huskies were bred by the Chukchi of Northeastern Asia. The dogs were imported into Alaska during the Nome Gold Rush and later spread into the United States and Canada. They were initially sent to Alaska and Canada as sled dogs but rapidly acquired the status of family pets and show-dogs.

White Tiger

A white tiger is a tiger with a recessive gene that creates the pale coloration. Another genetic characteristic makes the stripes of the tiger very pale; white tigers of this type are called snow-white or "pure white". White tigers are not albinos and do not constitute a separate subspecies of their own and can breed with orange ones, although (approx.) half of the resulting offspring will be heterozygous for the recessive white gene, and their fur will be orange. The only exception would be if the orange parent was itself already a heterozygous tiger, which would give each cub a 50% chance of being either double-recessive white or heterozygous orange.

Quarter Horse

Quarter HorseQuarter Horse

The principle development of the Quarter Horse was in the southwestern part of the United States in Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, eastern Colorado, and Kansas. Some breed historians have maintained that it is the oldest breed of horses in the United States and that the true beginning of the Quarter Horse was in the Carolinas and Virginia. Nye1 has suggested that the Chickasaws secured from the Indians were the true beginning of the Quarter Horse. These were small blocky horses, probably of Spanish extraction, which the planters secured from the Indians, and which were adapted for a variety of uses. The colonists were quite interested in short races, and it was only natural that they should have attempted to increase the speed of their horses; to this end some of the best early Thoroughbreds that were brought to the United States included the horse Janus, brought to the United States before the English Stud Book was established, were instrumental in the improvement of these local running horse. Later Imp. Sir Archy and other Thoroughbred stallions were used.

Southern White Rhinoceros

Southern White RhinocerosSouthern White Rhinoceros

The White or Square-lipped Rhinoceros is, after the elephant, the most massive remaining land animal in the world, along with the Indian Rhinoceros and the hippopotamus, which are of comparable size. There are two subspecies of White Rhinos; as of 2005, South Africa has the most of the first subspecies, the Southern White Rhinoceros. The population of Southern White Rhinos is about 14,500, making them the most abundant subspecies of rhino in the world. However, the population of the second subspecies, the critically-endangered Northern White Rhinoceros, is down to as few as four individuals in the wild, and as of June 2008 this sub-species are thought to have become extinct in the wild. Six are known to be held in captivity, two of which reside in a zoo in San Diego. There are currently four that were in held in captivity since 1982 in a zoo in the Czech Republic which were transferred to a wildlife refuge in Kenya in December 2009, in an effort have the animals reproduce and save the subspecies.
